Tiny Baetis mayflies are perhaps the most commonly encountered and imitated by anglers on all American trout streams due to their great abundance, widespread distribution, and trout-friendly emergence habits.

The trees were leafing out and the trout were rising on this productive Wisconsin stream From the Namekagon River in Wisconsin

This specimen resembled several others of around the same size and perhaps the same species, which were pretty common in my February sample from the upper Yakima. Unfortunately, I misplaced the specimen before I could get it under a microscope for a definitive ID.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

One of my favorite Montana views and the Madison River Going up to the Quake Lake visitor center. The view of the Madison River from above the Quake Lake visitor center. The famous Reynolds Pass on the Madison River. Also, below Reynolds Pass is the Three Dollar Bridge. Yup, that cool looking dude is me. :-) Of course, here is the shot of the Three Dollar Bridge and the tumbling Madison River.

An Ozark Creek and a Beautiful Waterfall This stream has one of the more impressive waterfalls in the state. Usually it's even more impressive than this, but the volume of flow is way, way down due to a major drought in the area. A view across the huge pool below the falls. This pool is crowded with yelling and screaming swimmers just about 24/7 during the summer months, but it's nice and peaceful now. A nice run on the creek below the falls. The Ninja Turtle Warrior with his hands full. This fish has been in the river awhile but nearly kicked my rear end... This fish was caught upstream and around the head of the island at the Green Cottage access. It took me downstream, in front of other anglers, and around the island before it was stopped. All-the-while the 70 year old+ Doug was running a head of me yelling for me to keep up... The Salmon Warrior at rest.

Colorado Trip Trappers Lake in the Flat Tops Wilderness, just about 1 mile from camp A very pretty small stream just a few hundred yards from camp. Full of little brookies and cutthroat A view from near the summit of the mountain we climbed. Wild country The same stream as the little one pictured above...About 4 miles downstream after several mountain tributaries came in. This part of the stream had less holding water, but some very nice trout for this altitude in the few good pools. This is just about 50 yards above where the river flows out of the wilderness area, and is the last public, fishable water for many miles. A brook trout from the section of stream in the picture directly above this one. Taken on a #18 Caddis Pupae fished below a #12 Parachute Adams.
