3. It's good to be back in Big Sky Country!

Its great to be back out West after an outstanding summer all over the East Coast. The pull of a big wild cutthroat was well missed and oh so satisfying to feel again! These are just a few scenery and fish shots from one of my first days back.

Wonderful photos, Jesse! Pardon me while I wipe the drool from my chin. (BTW, holding a big rainbow with one hand while flashing the shaka with the other is a nice touch.)

Matt and I have these Delta ticket vouchers from when we cancelled our visit to the Missouri in July...

Haha Hey id be more than happy to take you guys out on the river for a weekend if you get out!

Well it can't be the Missouri or Bighorn as those rivers have no cuts so where were the pics taken?

I was thinking the hat was a nice touch...

Could you explain the derivation of "shaka"? I thought, though my wife keeps saying no, that I was a rather hip guy, but I have no clue...Other than to say, I'd advise against the casual use of it on East Jefferson & Chalmers...;)

Well to start with you WBranch the fish from these particular photo's were caught on the Clark Fork River. But the Missouri and Bighorn are also favorites of mine.

Jonathon im not based anywhere. I guess my home (where my parents live and where i was raised most my life) is just a little ways outside of Nashville, TN. But i was born in PA where all of my intermediate family still resides on a family farm we have out there and where i like to spend the majority of my time when i can have it my way. But ive been going to school back and forth from Tennessee to Montana; the reason why im here now! And im happy to say that im going to finish my last couple of semesters here. And yes, i love to travel and chase fish.

And Kurt i wouldn't be caught dead at a private waters section of any river unless of course im simply wading my way through.. But no all the shots are from known and fished rivers. The only exceptions are some of the smaller back woods creeks i like to hike to when i get the chance.

Oh and as far as the hand gesture, well...haha

Jesse, you're a true "trout bum"!! If you ever get to Michigan, the guest room awaits...and as you've probably noticed from my posts, there's more than trout to be had around here, but plenty of trout if that's what you want, man!

P.S. LOVE the hat! Every fisherman needs a lucky hat, and I have mine! It's an REI mesh hat, which is most convenient for sticking flies in to dry...as you can see in my photo.

We were both hip guys, Spence...30 years ago. As for the derivation, ask a surfer or a Hawaiian, you can get all kinds of goofy stories about it. Shaka, brah!

Yeah, maybe a bit. Tower of Power played my high school homecoming. They were just a local "Chicago" cover band back then. "Spinnin' Wheel" was hard to dance to and still look "hip". Rhythm all over the place. A real step back from the year before when we had some other locals that had an Eric Clapton/Cream thing going on. They brought down the house with "Sunshine of Your Love". Thanks for the memory jog.:)

I wished. There was no "Bring on the Funk" or "Dance to the Music" goin' on that night! Sly was in the area after his Woodstock days though he sure wasn't playing High Schools by then.

The chances are pretty slim Kurt and the school that im attending is the University of Montana (Go GRIZ)! And Jonathon thanks for the invite next time i make my way out east and up north, be expecting a forewarning. I would absolutely love to fish from some of those monster spawning browns out of the great lakes into the tribs.

Oh yeah, forgot.... Sly and the Family Stone, Woodstock? I'm not explaining them other then to say "Funk" was also a music genre - No kidding!

You may know who Jonny Lang is (modern day jazz practitioner of exceptional talent). That's just Spence trying to be hip again.:)

Jesse, I'll be scouting out those lake-run browns this fall so when you make it out here we can go after 'em. Some run up the Rifle and some run up the Au Sable, so I'm told...also maybe the Au Gres.

Spence and Kurt, all I have to say is, "I've been waiting so long...I've been waiting so long...to be where I'm going..."

Not to mention, "GONNA TAKE YA HIGHER!!!"
