The famous nocturnal Hex hatch of the Midwest (and a few other lucky locations) stirs to the surface mythically large brown trout that only touch streamers for the rest of the year.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

Re: Emerald shiner steehead Little hen Average PA steelhead Big buck all colored up - 30". You will note these are just 2D eyes. I now only use 3D eyes I don't know if the addition of the lateral line is really required. But adding them is pretty easy so I keep doing it. It appears this fly doesn't have it.
