This species was fairly abundant in a February sample of the upper Yakima.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

This brown is something over 21". Maybe someone can figure it out; the grip is 7" long & the fish is well over 3X as long as the grip.

Ate an Apple cadis dun

19" on a #18 Blue Quill dun. Fish was rising 5' off the bank and the boat was only 10' off the bank. I basically flipped the fly over the side and the fish came up & grabbed it!

What else can you say about a fish like this? #18 CDC caddis 5X fluorocarbon.

Silver ribbing over guinea body.

Black ribbing over guinea body. I've been tying nymphs like these for several years, and they're pretty tricky. When I finished this particular nymph, I was shocked at how good it looked. I said to myself, "That's the best nymph you've ever tied." All the materials did exactly what I wanted them to do. The picture doesn't do it justice, in my opinion.

Alternating black (slightly heavier) and silver (very fine) wire.
