This one pretty clearly keys to Kogotus, but it also looks fairly different from specimens I caught in the same creek about a month later in the year. With only one species of the genus known in Washington, I'm not sure about the answer to this ID.

The two capes Dave sent from Feather Emporium are beautiful, and exactly what I asked Dave to find for me. I've examined them under a magnifier and compared them with other Whiting capes I own. I will probably never buy a cape anywhere else again.

Some guys prefer all natural rooster capes, not dyed. Because the breeders do not always mark on the package whether it is dyed or natural I posted this on my blog to help understand how you can determine if the cape is dyed or natural.

Update: I recently had a customer service problem with The Feather Emporium that leads me to rescind my previous positive recommendation. Anyone who is interested in further details may PM me.
