Blue-winged Olives
Baetis

Tiny Baetis mayflies are perhaps the most commonly encountered and imitated by anglers on all American trout streams due to their great abundance, widespread distribution, and trout-friendly emergence habits.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.
Troutnut is a project started in 2003 by salmonid ecologist Jason "Troutnut" Neuswanger to help anglers and fly tyers unabashedly embrace the entomological side of the sport. Learn more about Troutnut or support the project for an enhanced experience here.

With the recent warmish weather we've been having here the ice jams on the Susquehanna River are breaking up. I just had to stop and take a picture...

No shit!!! Wow...

My thoughts exactly! I know photographers with $2000 DSLRs that don't shoot many pictures that look that good. This just proves it's the content not the equipment.

Ha! Proof that any tool is only as good as the man that wields it... Nice composition, Eric. Incredible scene...

Eric,
Any post production or special modes that you used. I am awed by the dynamic range you were able to capture.

Proof positive that even the depths of winter has something to warm the soul with.

I used Photoshop express to do a little noise reduction, cropped and straightened the photo and boosted the vibrance a little.
