Blue-winged Olives
Baetis

Tiny Baetis mayflies are perhaps the most commonly encountered and imitated by anglers on all American trout streams due to their great abundance, widespread distribution, and trout-friendly emergence habits.

This dun emerged from a mature nymph on my desk. Unfortunately its wings didn't perfectly dry out.
27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.
Troutnut is a project started in 2003 by salmonid ecologist Jason "Troutnut" Neuswanger to help anglers and fly tyers unabashedly embrace the entomological side of the sport. Learn more about Troutnut or support the project for an enhanced experience here.

Man tell me about it. Im currently in Missoula where i have been for a little over two years, and getting on any water right now is pretty impossible.. Its a sad time of the year for me but nature is what nature does ha. Out of all the spots you and your buddies hit, did you have a favorite?
Most of us fish our whole lives..not knowing its not the fish that we are after.

All places had their own greatness. Difficult to name favorites.
But some waters I fish more in my dreams than others.

Firehole is fantastic in all it's weirdness.
Madison, in the park.
Missouri, naturally.
Ruby..

Hell, if I don't stop, I'll name all of them.. ;)

This time there will be more time to spend on fewer rivers.
Somewhere, right now, a fish is rising.
And you´re at the computer..
