Blue-winged Olives
Baetis

Tiny Baetis mayflies are perhaps the most commonly encountered and imitated by anglers on all American trout streams due to their great abundance, widespread distribution, and trout-friendly emergence habits.

Dorsal view of a Epeorus albertae (Heptageniidae) (Pink Lady) Mayfly Nymph from the East Fork Issaquah Creek in Washington
This specimen keys to the Epeorus albertae group of species. Of the five species in that group, the two known in Washington state are Epeorus albertae and Epeorus dulciana. Of the two, albertae has been collected in vastly more locations in Washington than dulciana, suggesting it is far more common. On that basis alone I'm tentatively putting this nymph in albertae, with the large caveat that there's no real information to rule out dulciana.
27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

Mike, My wife is Greek (from Athens) and we're contemplating retiring in Greece. I'm an avid fly-fisher having fished all my adult life.
I'd like to know more about the fish, entomology, and streams of Greece. We'll be taking a few vacations to Greece over the next few years before retirement and at some point I would like to meet you and see what you're offering.

Something is wrong with the web site or his server as it takes forever to DL the magnified Gallery pictures. I tried opening one and after thirty minutes it was still only half opened. Many of the streams look very shallow with little character. Some of the pools looked nice but the trout looked anemic and I doubt I'd consider Greece as a destination trout trip.

Hi Skeefer, welcome to the forum. You didn't notice, but Mike1974 posted to mention his service almost three years ago. He hasn't been back, so the odds that he'll respond here are pretty slim. I suggest trying to contact him through his website (assuming he's still guiding).

As far as the fishing, I concur with Matt.
