Hex Mayflies
Hexagenia limbata

The famous nocturnal Hex hatch of the Midwest (and a few other lucky locations) stirs to the surface mythically large brown trout that only touch streamers for the rest of the year.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.
Troutnut is a project started in 2003 by salmonid ecologist Jason "Troutnut" Neuswanger to help anglers and fly tyers unabashedly embrace the entomological side of the sport. Learn more about Troutnut or support the project for an enhanced experience here.

I might have good news. My English Setters bred last week.If all goes well I should have pups available in June. Both dogs have excellent pedigrees from American Field ,both with champion lineage. The female is a pure Llewellyn white with orange ticking, the male is white with black tickingand his lineage contains some well known Grouse Ridge champions. Both are great family dogs, excellent hunters and very beautiful. We shot many pheasants grouse and yes even woodcock over them this year.If anyone might be interested please PM me .Thanks Todd
IF I am not flyfishing or bird hunting I must be doing something bad like working !!
