Tiny Baetis mayflies are perhaps the most commonly encountered and imitated by anglers on all American trout streams due to their great abundance, widespread distribution, and trout-friendly emergence habits.
This specimen resembled several others of around the same size and perhaps the same species, which were pretty common in my February sample from the upper Yakima. Unfortunately, I misplaced the specimen before I could get it under a microscope for a definitive ID.
I grew up fishing the streams and high lakes of Colorado and loved the days on the Arkansas River. I now reside in Missouri and enjoy the Niangua, Taneycomo and the White whenever possible. Look forward to hearing peoples thoughts.
