The famous nocturnal Hex hatch of the Midwest (and a few other lucky locations) stirs to the surface mythically large brown trout that only touch streamers for the rest of the year.
This one pretty clearly keys to Kogotus, but it also looks fairly different from specimens I caught in the same creek about a month later in the year. With only one species of the genus known in Washington, I'm not sure about the answer to this ID.

Thanks for the memory with this one, Jason. You shared this creek with me a few years back and I had a blast. It fit my image of the near perfect smaller trout stream like a glove. I felt right at home.
The only problem is that you've jostled my memory now and I need to find a way to get back there and I'm back in PA now and 900+ miles away. Maybe if I tell Petunia I have to go out for milk and will probably bundle a few more errands into the trip. Don't wait up...;)
