This specimen appears to be of the same species as this one collected in the same spot two months earlier. The identification of both is tentative. This one suffered some physical damage before being photographed, too, so the colors aren't totally natural. I was mostly photographing it to test out some new camera setting idea, which worked really well for a couple of closeups.
27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

I have a G Loomis Venture 7 that has serviced me very well through the years, but the other day I was out fishing, and I hear 'kerplunk!'and I look down to find the spool half of my reel in the water. I took it home and looked it over, and discovered that the switch used to detach the spool half simply had come undone, allowing the spool to fall off. The problem is that the switch is now very loose and will not hold the reel together securely. Is there a spring or something I can fix or replace in the reel?
