Hex Mayflies
Hexagenia limbata

The famous nocturnal Hex hatch of the Midwest (and a few other lucky locations) stirs to the surface mythically large brown trout that only touch streamers for the rest of the year.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

I need a better reel but don't want to spend over $120. I was looking at the Orvis Battenkill 2 but saw a different one at the shop the other day. Any suggestions?

Go to the Cabela's on-line catalog. They have a bunch of nice reels in your price range. Here is a nice reel on sale for $20.00. For most of the trout fishing you will be doing in PA this reel will meet your needs. It has good line capacity, isn't too heavy, and has a modern disc drag.

I like to look through craigslist. You can find some really good deals on reels that would normally be out of your price range.
BUT if you said I only have $189 to spend I have some pretty good suggestions.
