This one pretty clearly keys to Kogotus, but it also looks fairly different from specimens I caught in the same creek about a month later in the year. With only one species of the genus known in Washington, I'm not sure about the answer to this ID.

Sounds like an average day in the Keys to me...
Remember the the title of the thread...
A major point to my comment is that fish vision is greatly influenced by light penetration. If the fish are educated/spooky to begin with -high vis conditions change things by orders of magnitude.
