The famous nocturnal Hex hatch of the Midwest (and a few other lucky locations) stirs to the surface mythically large brown trout that only touch streamers for the rest of the year.
I looked at this small Ephemerella nymph very carefully under a microscope. It as no abdominal tubercles and 1-banded tibiae. I think just a very early instar invaria nymph.
