Hex Mayflies
Hexagenia limbata

The famous nocturnal Hex hatch of the Midwest (and a few other lucky locations) stirs to the surface mythically large brown trout that only touch streamers for the rest of the year.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

The Alaska Department of Fish & Game put up a new Facebook page about sport fishing in interior Alaska in general. Their first post is a cool video of spawning grayling:

They asked me to share it with this community and I'm happy to oblige.
