This species was fairly abundant in a February sample of the upper Yakima.
27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.
Troutnut is a project started in 2003 by salmonid ecologist Jason "Troutnut" Neuswanger to help anglers and fly tyers unabashedly embrace the entomological side of the sport. Learn more about Troutnut or support the project for an enhanced experience here.

JP Ross Fly Rod Company and the Central New York Fly Fishers Anglers Association (FFAA), both out of Utica, NY are holding their second annual Adults and Kids Fly Tying Symposium. This is a great way to...A) get youngsters interested in fishing, and B)learn more about fishing. Kids will be in groups of 8 for 1 hour time slots learning how to tie flies from experienced tyers. There will be seminars about fishing all day, as well as over 30 local fly tyers showing you how to tie their favorite fish catching flies.

The seminar is from 9am to 5pm with a $12 admission, on Saturday March 6th 2010. There are various items being raffled off and also a 50/50. The symposium is being held at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Utica and will occupy a 15,000 square foot ball room, and tiered seating conference room for the presentations. Parking is validated and kids under 16 get in free.

This was a great time last year and it really got everyone, myself included, excited about the up and coming season. For more information, you can click on the link www.jprossflyrods.com/ffaa.>here.

I hope to see you there!
