Pteronarcys californica

The giant Salmonflies of the Western mountains are legendary for their proclivity to elicit consistent dry-fly action and ferocious strikes.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

Can some one telle me what king of gammarus this is?
It's found in The Netherlands.
Is it a gammarus pulex or a gammarus trigrinus?
The size was about 2 cm when stretched.
greetings and tight lines.

Hello René, I'm no expert but I don't think i would be able to make a species determination from the photos you have provided. Some of the characters required to do so are not visible. But someone here may have more experience with European Gammarus species than I do (I have none). I've only dealt with Eastern North American species. And even that experience has been limited.
