This is the first of it's family I've seen, collected from a tiny, fishless stream in the Cascades. The three species of this genus all live in the Northwest and are predators that primarily eat stonefly nymphs Merritt R.W., Cummins, K.W., and Berg, M.B. (2019).
27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

My first steelhead trip ever. I hooked four, landed three, and lost two. You'll have to ask John Dunn about the fuzzy math. The last fish was a 27" hen that gave me all I wanted, just before dark. Amazing! I'll be back.

I'm jealous, I really wanted to make it up over the hollidays, but I had to settle for Beaver-run steelhead on spruce creek yesterday.

Hey Jeff, I got into one of those a few years back. They're nice fish!
