Tiny Baetis mayflies are perhaps the most commonly encountered and imitated by anglers on all American trout streams due to their great abundance, widespread distribution, and trout-friendly emergence habits.
The size of the head compared to the body in this larva is surprising, and I think this means it's a fairly early instar of something which is going to get a lot bigger, but I'm not sure.
