Hex Mayflies
Hexagenia limbata

The famous nocturnal Hex hatch of the Midwest (and a few other lucky locations) stirs to the surface mythically large Brown Trout that only touch streamers for the rest of the year.

Female Attenella attenuata (Blue-Winged Olive) Mayfly Dun Pictures

This dun was badly damaged in transport and all its legs fell off, but I photographed it anyway because I wasn't sure I would fine more and it's an interesting species. Luckily I collected better specimens a few days later.

This mayfly was collected from the Namekagon River in Wisconsin on June 5th, 2005 and added to Troutnut.com by Troutnut on May 25th, 2006.
