The famous nocturnal Hex hatch of the Midwest (and a few other lucky locations) stirs to the surface mythically large brown trout that only touch streamers for the rest of the year.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

five decades of fishing, 30 years of the fly, Started fly fishing in Wisc.and Mich. when it wasn't cool. Self taught and still learning. spent 15 years chasing trout through out Washington state. just moved to Coosbay or. this last year to spend the rest of my time on the fly.
