Tiny Baetis mayflies are perhaps the most commonly encountered and imitated by anglers on all American trout streams due to their great abundance, widespread distribution, and trout-friendly emergence habits.
This species is uncommonly collected except from wells. It is a hyporheic species living in the river gravels of river floodplains until it is ready to emerge.
The head shape is an important identifier.
This stonefly was collected from the Flathead River-upper in Montana on April 15th, 2010 and added to Troutnut.com by Bnewell on June 26th, 2011.
