The famous nocturnal Hex hatch of the Midwest (and a few other lucky locations) stirs to the surface mythically large brown trout that only touch streamers for the rest of the year.

A small, old rock wing dam has created an excellent riffle and pool in this classic trout stream.

This species was fairly abundant in a February sample of the upper Yakima.
