Tiny Baetis mayflies are perhaps the most commonly encountered and imitated by anglers on all American trout streams due to their great abundance, widespread distribution, and trout-friendly emergence habits.
In the field, I accidentally mistook this moth for a weird-looking caddisfly. Only later did I notice the moth mouthparts and that the "hair" on the wings is actually tiny, flat scales.
