Blue-winged Olives
Baetis

Tiny Baetis mayflies are perhaps the most commonly encountered and imitated by anglers on all American trout streams due to their great abundance, widespread distribution, and trout-friendly emergence habits.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

Biography & Thoughts
I've been fishing since I was 2. Really. All my life. Fly fishing since about 16. Also, a great many years. The trout and other species of fish here in northeast Tennessee are fabulous. Browns, Rainbows and Brookies. 700 miles of trout streams in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Six or seven rivers with native (and stocked) trout populations. Lakes and reservoirs. One could fish here three times a week for the rest of their life and never fish the same place twice. And it's beautiful country. The best thing I ever did was moving here in retirement.

Also, I'm an amateur stream entomologist and fly tyer.
