The drift: The invertebrate drift refers to all the invertebrates suspended in the water column, or on the surface, of a river, being transported downstream by the current. It includes aquatic and terrestrial insects, drifting on purpose or by accident, and it is the primary food source for most trout.
This other word references the same concept: the invertebrate drift.
