This seems to be a young larva of Limnephilus. Although not clear in the picture, several ventral abdominal segments have chloride epithelia.

27" brown trout, my largest ever. It was the sub-dominant fish in its pool. After this, I hooked the bigger one, but I couldn't land it.

baseball and fly fishing share several characteristics: they are very simple in concept. they reward careful attention at every level, but are possible to enjoy from the get go. as one matures in the sport, they become more and more delightfully complex while retaining the completely absorbing simplicity which drew one to them in the first place.
